The name Dead Arm Shiraz references a fungal disease that can affect vines, killing it only in part and leaving it with a "dead arm". When this happens, that section of the vine no longer produces any grapes. However, the surviving half benefits from the lack of overall fruit, thus making far more concentration in the grapes that do grow. The d'Arenberg Dead Arm Shiraz is a powerful wine that shows structure in its' refined expression. In addition to the generous sweet fruit; layers of licorice, earth, and even a hint of char define this wine.
