A Light and Fruity Summer Sipper

Founded in 1988, Wolffer Estate Vineyard has been dedicated to making popular wines, ciders and spirits in the heart of the Hamptons. Founded by the dynamic Christian Wölffer and now run by his children Marc and Joey, the winery boasts 52 acres on North Fork, Long Island, 200 acres in Mendoza and 2.5 acres in Spain. The diversity of the varieties is thanks to Long Island’s loamy soils and location right off the Atlantic Ocean, allowing for the grapes to ripen slowly and have a lovely balance of structure and acidity. The winery uses sustainable farming practices and have been certified for six years under Long Island Sustainable Winegrowing.

The Wölffer Estate Vineyard Summer in a Bottle 2018 has a new look this year for its fifth anniversary. Though it is adorned with new decorations on its bottle, the wine is still exactly the same with fresh, bright fruity notes. Made up of Merlot, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Riesling and Cabernet Franc, the unexpected varietals add character to make it stand out. The Riesling and Gewurztraminer add beautiful floral notes and plenty of acid, while the Merlot mellows out the wine and adds body and notes of fresh red fruit to create a classic summertime sipper. Enjoy on its own by the pool or with fish and pork dishes.
