The estate
A Premier Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Emilion, Chateau Valandraud shines bright among the most beautiful properties of the appellation. Offering a remarkable value for price, the Virginie de Valandraud cuvée is made from a selection of younger vines from the estate.
The vineyard
The Chateau Valandraud vineyard comprises 12 hectares of vines in production, planted in clay-limestone and siliceous-gravelly soils. The vines are 30 years old on average. The grape varieties are dominated by merlot (70%), supplemented by Cabernet Franc (20%), Cabernet Sauvignon (9%) and Carmenere (1%).
The winemaking
Thermoregulated stainless steel tanks.
The aging
18 to 24 months in 100% new barrels.
