Description
Fresh and balanced, an alluring Saint-Emilion Premier Grand Cru Classé
The estate
A Saint-Emilion Premier Grand Cru Classé, Château Valandraud is one of the most beautiful properties in the appellation.
The vineyard
The Château Valandraud vineyard stretches over 12 hectares of vines in production, planted in clay-limestone and siliceous-gravelly soils. 6.5 hectares of vines are dedicated to the production of this Saint-Emilion Premier Grand Cru Classé wine. The vines are 30 years old on average
The vintage
Spared by the spring frost, the vineyard suffered from a significant pressure of cryptogamic diseases due to heavy rainfall until July. The rigour of the teams throughout the vegetative cycle enabled them to preserve the vineyard’s healthy condition up until the grape harvest.
Vinification and ageing
The grapes are harvested by hand and sorted by density in order to keep only the grapes that showcased an optimal ripeness level. Light bleeding is carried out. Gentle extraction of the tannins. Aged for 18 to 24 months in 100% new barrels.
The blend
Merlot (85%)
Cabernet Franc (9%)
Cabernet Sauvignon (6%).
