Description
As a full-fledged vintage of Chateau Valandraud, a First Classified Growth of Saint-Emilion, Virginie de Valandraud 2017 Saint-Emilion Grand Cru brilliantly illustrates the excellence of an estate that has become a must-see on the Right Bank, and guarantees the Valandraud style as a very fine and accessible wine.
Initially the Second Wine of Chateau Valandraud, which bears the name of Jean-Luc Thunevin's daughter, Virginie de Valandraud became a full-fledged vintage from 1997 with its own plots that are distinct from those of the First Wine Chateau Valandraud.
Produced in the Saint-Emilion appellation, Virginie de Valandraud 2017 illustrates the typicality of its prestigious terroir of clay-limestone and silica-gravel soils through a blend dominated by Merlot (65%) with Cabernet Franc (25%), Malbec (4%), Cabernet Sauvignon (5%) and Carmenere (1%).
Revealing the acclaimed style that Chateau Valandraud is known for, Virginie de Valandraud 2017 offers the excellence of a Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, which is elegant and delicate. It highlights fresh and pure fruit while the palate reveals a beautiful structure between power and balance. A beautiful wine.
