Ochetti 2024: An Elegant Langhe Nebbiolo from Renato Ratti
The Estate
The Ratti estate, founded in 1970 in La Morra at the heart of Piedmont, is a historic benchmark among the wines of the Langhe. Now run by Pietro Ratti, son of founder Renato Ratti, the Ratti brand cultivates approximately 50 hectares spread across six properties located in La Morra, Mango, Costigliole d'Asti, and Dogliani. A pioneer in mapping the crus of Barolo and the creator of the Albeisa bottle, the estate combines historic heritage with technical rigor, establishing itself as an essential reference within the Langhe appellation.
The Vineyard
The Langhe Nebbiolo Ochetti draws its origins from vineyards with sandy and calcareous soils, nestled on the hills of the Langhe. This terroir gives Nebbiolo a delicate yet immediately expressive character, true to the grape's identity and to the style the estate has sought since this cuvée was first created in 1969.
Winemaking and Aging
The grapes destined for Ochetti 2024 are hand-harvested in September and October, then destemmed and pressed. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with skin contact lasting about seven to eight days. Malolactic fermentation also occurs in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged for approximately eight months in large Slavonian oak casks, followed by four months of bottle aging before release.
Grape Variety
Ochetti 2024 is crafted from 100% Nebbiolo.
