A Meursault 1er Cru Rooted in the Stony Soils of Les Perrières

Founded in 2017 in Meursault, at the heart of Burgundy, Pierre Girardin represents the thirteenth generation of a winegrowing family long established on the Côte d'Or. Pierre-Vincent Girardin, son of renowned vigneron Vincent Girardin, now leads the estate across roughly 4.5 hectares spread between the Côte de Beaune and the Côte de Nuits. The domaine follows organic farming principles and favors minimal-intervention winemaking, relying on custom-made 456-liter barrels to preserve the purity of its chardonnays. Pierre Girardin has quickly built a reputation among Burgundy's most closely watched young producers.

This cuvée is sourced from the "Dessous" section of the Les Perrières climat in Meursault, one of the appellation's most highly regarded premier cru sites, known for its rocky, limestone-rich soils. The vines used for this wine are over 55 years old, allowing deep root systems to draw from the stony subsoil. The parcel is farmed organically, in line with the estate's broader approach to viticulture across its Meursault holdings.

This Meursault 1er cru "Les Perrières" 2023 is fermented with indigenous yeasts, allowing the native microflora of the vineyard and cellar to drive the alcoholic fermentation. The wine is then aged for twelve months in 100% new 456-liter barrels, custom-made to provide structure while limiting direct oak influence, before spending seven additional months in stainless steel tanks. The Meursault 1er Cru "Les Perrières" 2023 is bottled without fining or filtration, preserving its natural texture.
