Description
Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Chambolle-Musigny Village 2022 from Domaine Perrot-Minot
Food and wine pairings
While the estate has not published a specific pairing for this cuvée, a Chambolle-Musigny Village such as this one is traditionally enjoyed with delicate meats, poultry, or dishes built around mushrooms, in keeping with the refined character generally associated with this appellation.
A Chambolle-Musigny Village Rooted in Organic Viticulture at Domaine Perrot-Minot
The Estate
Domaine Perrot-Minot is based in Morey-Saint-Denis, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, Burgundy. While the family's winegrowing roots trace back to the mid-19th century with the Merme family, the estate took the Perrot-Minot name in the second half of the 20th century. Christophe Perrot-Minot has directed the property since 1993, leading a thorough qualitative overhaul. Today the domaine farms around eight hectares, certified organic, across Morey-Saint-Denis, Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, Vosne-Romanée and Nuits-Saint-Georges, known for its rigorous grape sorting and pursuit of transparent, terroir-driven pinot noir.
The Vineyard
The grapes for this cuvée come from the Chambolle-Musigny appellation, within the Côte de Nuits, where Domaine Perrot-Minot farms its plots under certified organic practices. The vines grow on classic clay-limestone soils typical of the area, generally set on east- or southeast-facing slopes that favor morning sun exposure and even ripening while preserving aromatic freshness. The domaine applies short Guyot pruning, regular soil tilling and winter ridging, and deliberately limits yields, consistent with its broader approach across the Côte de Nuits.
The Vintage
The 2022 growing season in the Côte de Nuits followed a rainy autumn and a cold December, which helped replenish the soils' water reserves ahead of winter dormancy. An unusually mild spring, including the warmest May in fifty years, encouraged vigorous early growth, while summer brought one of the hottest spells since 2003. Despite these elevated temperatures, available soil moisture allowed the vines to ripen their fruit evenly, and harvest began as early as August 31 under favorable conditions.
Winemaking and aging
The Chambolle-Musigny Village 2022 is hand-harvested, following the domaine's practice of sorting fruit directly in the vineyard before a second, thorough sorting at the winery. Grapes are carried in small crates to limit crushing and avoid premature oxidation. After vinification, the wine is aged in oak barrels, in keeping with the elevage approach used across the domaine's Chambolle-Musigny cuvées, prior to bottling.
Grape Varieties
This wine is made from 100 % pinot noir, the only grape variety authorized in the Chambolle-Musigny appellation.
