The 2011 Musigny Grand Cru from Domaine Jacques Prieur is 100% Pinot Noir from one of the largest terroirs in the Cote des Nuits. Located on a fault overlooking the Clos de Vougeot and adjoining Combe Orveau, the Musigny vineyards are favored with Southeast exposure have a suuny micro-climate. The 2011 Musigny Grand Cru from Domaine Jacques Prieur is aged in new oak barrels for 19 months. This win has a beautiful, somber ruby robe with intense violet glints. The nose is pure with lovely hints of black cherry, tobacco, and dark chocolate underlined with soft violet floral notes. The palate is dense and fleshy, distinguished by black fruit with fresh tannins, it is perfect for easy sipping.

Wine Advocate-Parker :
Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The Musigny 2011 from Jacques Prieur displays more red fruit on the nose compared the blue fruit found elsewhere in this flight of blind Chambolle Amoureuses and Musigny 2011s. It is beautifully defined, perhaps a touch earthier than its peers, with a slight meatiness developing in the glass, subsequently wild heather and broom. The palate is medium-bodied with supple ripe, quite toasty tannins. There is impressive depth here, although it does not quite possess tip-top finesse and delineation on the finish. Still, this is very fine and here, under blind condition, out-maneuvered some of the more revered names.
