Chateau Peyrabon 2006

Next, I was drawn to a Haut-Médoc Cru Bourgeois that stood out because it was one of the few with a bit of age. The 2006 Peyrabon offers smudged dark plum, undergrowth and tobacco notes, not intense but holding up well after 15 years. The palate is balanced, straightforward and fresh, with blackberry, leather, tobacco and maybe just a touch of VA on the finish, which did not prevent us from finishing most of the bottle.

Medium ruby. Peppery bouquet, floral, red currants, comes across a bit cool. Slender, if not even lean, palate, acidic extract, flat finish.

Purple color. Nose with floral aromas. Palate very well balanced, clean, precise, straightforward. The tannins are completely integrated.

The 2006 is a wine of good density, fairly tannic, but with pure fruit. It has not yet reached its peak.

It stands apart from Pierbone, the second wine, with a palate crafted in greater softness. The fruit is more vibrant, and floral notes mingle with blackcurrant. Tannins are well integrated.

Good fruit, well-balanced, without being highly concentrated, this is an easy-drinking and pleasant wine, best enjoyed in its youth.
