Description

A fresh and beautifully complex Saint-Émilion red wine

The estate

The Château La Mondotte is a wine estate dating back to the 19th century. Relatively recent, this Premier Grand Cru Classé from Saint-Émilion is managed by Stephan Von Neipperg. Belonging to a German family immersed in the world of viticulture for nearly eight centuries, Stephan von Neipperg runs Château La Mondotte with passion and talent.

The vineyard

Château La Mondotte 2023 is a Saint-Émilion wine from a 4.5 hectare vineyard located to the east of the medieval city. The old vines, averaging 60 years old, are planted on a mosaic of terroir with clayey loam soils on a rocky substrate. The vineyard is certified Organic Agriculture.

Vinification and ageing

Vinification in wooden vats. Extraction by pneumatic pigeage. Maceration for 35 days. The ageing on fine lees is carried out 75% in barrels (of which 40% are new) and 25% in wooden vats.

Blend

Château La Mondotte 2023 is a blend of Merlot (80%) and Cabernet Franc (20%).
