Description
La Mondotte produces a delicate and fruity Saint-Émilion red wine
The estate
The Château La Mondotte is a vineyard estate dating back to the 19th century. Relatively recent, this Premier Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion is managed by Stephan Von Neipperg. Belonging to a German family immersed in the world of winemaking for nearly eight centuries, Stephan von Neipperg runs Château La Mondotte with passion and talent.
The vineyard
The Château La Mondotte has a 4.5-hectare vineyard to the east of Saint-Émilion. The old vines, averaging 60 years of age, are planted on a mosaic of terroirs with silty clay soils over a rocky subsoil. The vineyard is farmed under certified organic agriculture.
Winemaking and aging
Vinification in wooden vats. Extraction by pneumatic pigeage. Maceration for 33 days. Aging on fine lees is carried out in French oak barrels (70% of which are new).
Blend
The Château La Mondotte 2020 is the result of a blend of Merlot (90%) and Cabernet Franc (10%).
