Decanter

A strong and bold nose with liquorice, black cherries and a hint of cloves. Textured and nuanced on the palate, this is a bold wine, full of intensity and power but also with underlying freshness. It's generous and juicy with tannins that grip and coat the entire mouth. This certainly needs more time, but I love the confidence here. It's upfront with presence and just needs time to integrate.

Vinous

Neal Martin

The 2019 La Fleur Peyrabon seems to have evolved a more nuanced and less opulent bouquet of black cherries, cigar smoke and light undergrowth scents. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, maybe just a bit rough around the edges but displaying a little more cohesion on the finish. Fine, but short term.

La RVF

There is substance and potential, but at this stage the palate remains tight and firm on the finish. A bit more suppleness would not hurt, especially since the whole is balanced, with a palate that ends on a fresh note.

Dark color, medium intensity. Fruity nose with a fresh profile. Fruity palate, but much lighter than usual.

Description

The intense fruit of a refined fine red wine of Pauillac

The estate.
Situated in the heart of the Pauillac appellation, Chateau La Fleur Peyrabon is an estate that boasts a great personality. On the left bank of Bordeaux, this property has since 1998 been brilliantly managed by Patrick Bernard, who has made it a point of honor to produce elegant and refined wines that reflect the unique qualities of this great terroir.

The vineyard
Chateau La Fleur Peyrabon is home to vines aged 20 years on average, planted on a little over 7 hectares of land, featuring sandy gravels topsoil upon clay subsoils, a fantastic Medoc terroir. The harvest of the 2019 vintage took place in two phases.

The Blend
The Chateau La Fleur Peyrabon 2019 is produced from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot.

Tasting
NB: The last tasting of the Chateau La Fleur Peyrabon 2019 was held in October 2020 with Yves Beck. It should be taken into account that wine is a living product which evolves over time and that these tasting notes are representative of the tasting conducted at a certain point in time.

Color
The Chateau La Fleur Peyrabon 2019 displays a garnet red color with purple reflections.

Nose
Intense and marked by a beautiful expression of the fruit, the bouquet of the La Fleur Peyrabon 2019 reveals gorgeous notes of red fruit, further accentuated by fresh licorice notes.

Palate
The palate of this wine reveals the personality of the great Pauillac terroir. The wine is full-bodied, offering a nice density, with chewy and juicy fruit providing a superb balance to the vintage. This fine red wine of Pauillac is the product of a very successful vintage and can be enjoyed from 2024 onward. It has the potential to age for another decade or more.
