Description
A wonderfully balanced and fresh Bordeaux Dry White wine
The estate
As Saint-Émilion's Premier Grand Cru Classé, Château Valandraud is one of the finest estates in the appellation.
The vineyard
Produced as a Bordeaux Dry White wine, this Blanc de Valandraud is made from vines that are an average of 20 years old. The vines are planted on clay-limestone soil on south-west facing slopes. 1.5 hectares of vines are harvested to make this cuvée.
The vintage
Despite hot conditions and low rainfall, the vineyard's clay-limestone soils enabled it to conserve sufficient water reserves and avoid water stress.
Winemaking and ageing
Harvested by hand (3 selections) followed by storage in a cold room before a long pressing (around 5 hours). Fermentation in barrels. Aged for 10 months in barrels (80% new) and earthenware amphorae (20%).
Blend
Sauvignon Gris (45%)
Sauvignon Blanc (40%)
Sémillon (15%).
Characteristics and tasting tips for Blanc de Valandraud 2022
The freshness of this 2022 vintage is enhanced by the exotic aromas typical of Sauvignon Gris and the citrus notes of Sauvignon Blanc.
