Description
The freshness and complexity of a Bordeaux dry white wine
The estate
A Saint-Emilion Premier Grand Cru Classé, Château Valandraud is one of the most beautiful properties in the appellation.
The vineyard
Produced in the Bordeaux dry white wines appellation, this Blanc de Valandraud 2021 is made from a 1.5 ha vineyard. Aged 20 years on average, the south-west facing vines are planted in clay-limestone soils.
The vintage
The mild weather at the beginning of March favoured an early budburst. The vineyard was not affected by the spring frosts. A relatively cool summer, ideal conditions, preceded a month of September whose mild temperatures during the second half of the latter were ideal for refining the ripeness while preserving both finesse and freshness.
Vinification and ageing
Manual harvest (3 selections) followed by storage in a cold room before pressing. Long pressing (around 5 hours). The wine is aged on its lees in barrels (80% new) and jars (20%).
The blend
Blanc de Valandraud 2021 comprises a blend of Sauvignon Gris (50%), Sauvignon Blanc (35%) and Semillon (15%).
