Description

The freshness and precision of a Bordeaux dry white wine

The estate

A Saint-Emilion Premier Grand Cru Classé, Château Valandraud is one of the most beautiful properties in the appellation. Offering a remarkable value for money, the Virginie de Valandraud cuvée is made from a selection of younger vines from the estate.

The vineyard

Produced in the Bordeaux Blancs Secs appellation, the Virginie de Valandraud Blanc 2021 is made from a 2.5-hectare vineyard. Aged 20 years on average, the vines are planted in a clay-limestone soil.

The wine

Virginie de Valandraud is the Second Wine of the estate.

The vintage

The mild weather at the beginning of March favoured an early budburst. The vineyard was not affected by the spring frosts. A relatively cool summer, ideal conditions, preceded a month of September whose mild temperatures during the second half of the latter were ideal for refining the ripeness while preserving both finesse and freshness.

Vinification and ageing

Manual harvest (3 selections) followed by storage in a cold room before pressing. Long pressing (around 5 hours). The wine is aged for 9 months in third-fill barrels and stainless steel vats.

The blend

Sauvignon Blanc (70%)

Sémillon (30%).
