A Premier Cru Pinot Noir from Morey-Saint-Denis, Crafted by Sérafin Père & Fils
The Estate
Sérafin Père & Fils is a family-owned estate founded in 1947 by Stanislaus Sérafin in Gevrey-Chambertin, in the heart of Burgundy's Côte de Nuits. The property remains owned by his son, Christian Sérafin, while day-to-day operations are now led by the third generation, his daughter Karine Sérafin and her cousin Frédérique Goulley. The estate is recognized for its old vines, near-organic farming, and a traditional winemaking approach built on indigenous yeast fermentation and high proportions of new oak, resulting in wines crafted for long cellaring.
The Vineyard
The Les Millandes climate lies within the Morey-Saint-Denis appellation, on the northeastern side of the village, at mid-slope on a gradient exceeding 5 percent. The vines face east-northeast, at an elevation of roughly 260 to 268 meters, just below the Clos de la Roche grand cru. The underlying substratum is crinoidal limestone, which provides naturally well-drained growing conditions. Across the estate, vines are tended with a near-organic approach, without herbicides or chemical fertilizers, and the grapes are harvested by hand with careful selection at the sorting table.
Winemaking and Aging
This Morey-Saint-Denis 1er cru "Les Millandes" 2019 is produced from fully destemmed grapes fermented with indigenous yeasts. Following fermentation, the wine is aged in a high proportion of new oak barrels, a hallmark of the estate's premier cru cuvées, and bottled unfiltered to preserve its full character.
Grape Varieties
100 % pinot noir.
