Description
Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Petit Chablis Village 2025 by Patrick Piuze
Tasting
Color
The wine reveals a pale straw-yellow hue, occasionally brightened by subtle green highlights, typical of stainless-steel-raised white Burgundies from the Chablis region.
Nose
The nose is marked by fresh citrus notes, particularly lemon and grapefruit, layered with white flowers and a chalky, mineral undertone that echoes the style commonly found in Patrick Piuze's Petit Chablis cuvées.
Palate
The palate is lively and taut, driven by crisp acidity and a saline finish, with a texture that often shows more depth than one might expect from the appellation.
Food and wine pairings
This wine pairs naturally with shellfish and other seafood, as well as with fresh, tangy cheeses, making it a versatile companion for light, briny dishes.
Serving and cellaring
The Petit Chablis Village 2025 is best served chilled to highlight its freshness and mineral edge. It is recommended to enjoy it in its youth to fully appreciate its vibrant fruit and energy.
A Petit Chablis Rooted in the Portlandian Plateaus of Chablis
The Estate
Founded in 2008 in the town of Chablis, Burgundy, the Patrick Piuze house was created by its namesake, a Quebec-born vigneron who trained alongside Olivier Leflaive, Verget, and Jean-Marc Brocard before establishing his own precision négociant estate. Patrick Piuze remains at the helm today, overseeing every stage of production. The estate works with long-term grower partners across Chablis, producing a wide range of village, premier cru, and grand cru cuvées, all dedicated to expressing the diversity of the appellation's terroirs.
The Vineyard
The Petit Chablis comes from plateau vineyards surrounding the town of Chablis, planted on Portlandian limestone soils that sit above the more renowned Kimmeridgian slopes. These elevated, cooler sites are farmed by Piuze's grower partners, with grapes typically picked early in the season to preserve freshness and tension.
Grape Varieties
100% Chardonnay.
