Description
Tasting Notes and Characteristics of Corton Grand Cru "Domaine Latour" 2022, Louis Latour
Tasting
Color
The wine displays a deep, intense ruby color, typical of a well-structured Pinot Noir from the Corton hill.
Nose
The nose opens on a spicy register, with notes of nutmeg and licorice intertwined with hints of cherry pit, giving the wine a dark, slightly warm aromatic character.
Palate
The palate is full and generous, built around ripe cherry fruit, with elegant, well-integrated tannins leading to a round, ample finish.
Food and wine pairings
This Corton pairs beautifully with rich, slow-cooked beef dishes such as a classic beef bourguignon, as well as with game meats like wild boar. It also makes an excellent match with well-aged cheeses, whose richness and depth echo the wine's structure.
Serving and cellaring
The Corton Grand Cru "Domaine Latour" 2022 is best served at a temperature of 16 to 17°C in order to fully reveal its aromatic complexity. According to the estate, this wine may be cellared for 10 to 15 years, suggesting enjoyment up until approximately 2037.

The Estate
Founded in 1797 in Beaune, Burgundy, Maison Louis Latour has remained family-owned and independent ever since. The estate, based in Aloxe-Corton, spans 48 hectares, including 27 hectares of Grand Cru vineyards, making it the largest holder of Grand Cru land in Burgundy. Today the house is led by Florent Latour, with Éléonore Latour recently joining as vice-president. Louis Latour also operates its own cooperage and has long championed sustainable viticulture, certified ISO 14001.
The Vineyard
The grapes for this Corton come from south-east facing plots on the Corton hill, planted on marl and limestone soils. The vines average around 40 years of age and are farmed with strict pruning and controlled yields of 35 hectoliters per hectare, in line with the estate's broader commitment to sustainable practices and respect for the surrounding landscape.
Winemaking and aging
Hand-harvested and sorted, the grapes destined for the Corton Grand Cru "Domaine Latour" 2022 undergo a traditional fermentation in open vats. The wine is then aged for 10 to 12 months in French oak barrels, produced by the estate's own cooperage, with 15% new oak and a medium toast, allowing the fruit and terroir to remain at the forefront.
Grape Varieties
100% pinot noir.
