Characteristics and tasting notes for the Morey-Saint-Denis 1er cru "Monts Luisants" 2024 by Dujac
Tasting
Color
The Morey-Saint-Denis 1er cru "Monts Luisants" displays a bright, luminous golden robe, typical of this white Burgundy cuvée.
Nose
The nose of the Morey-Saint-Denis 1er cru "Monts Luisants" opens on notes of white fruit and citrus, echoing the cool, high-altitude character of its climat.
Palate
On the palate, the wine reveals an ample yet tonic profile, driven by a pronounced minerality that gives it its characteristic tension and length.
Winemaking and aging
The Morey-Saint-Denis 1er cru "Monts Luisants" 2024 is vinified following Dujac's long-standing approach, relying on indigenous yeasts and limited intervention in the cellar to let the fruit and the site's minerality express themselves naturally.
Grape Varieties
This wine is made from 100% chardonnay, grown on the small parcel of the Monts Luisants climat dedicated to white wine production.
A White Morey-Saint-Denis Premier Cru Shaped by Altitude and Limestone Minerality
The Estate
Founded in 1968 by Jacques Seysses in Morey-Saint-Denis, in the heart of Burgundy's Côte de Nuits, Dujac grew from an initial five hectares to roughly 17 to 17.5 hectares today, spanning several of the region's finest crus. The estate has been certified organic since 2011 and relies on indigenous yeast fermentation. Jacques and Rosalind Seysses remain the owners of Dujac, while their children Jeremy and Alec Seysses, together with Jeremy's wife Diana Snowden Seysses, now oversee the vineyards and cellar on a daily basis.
The Vineyard
The Monts Luisants climat lies on the upper slope of Morey-Saint-Denis, just below the woods, at an elevation of roughly 300 to 340 meters on shallow clay-and-limestone soils. This cool, high position allows for slower ripening and favors the small parcel of chardonnay planted amid the otherwise pinot noir-dominated vineyards, farmed under certified organic practices.
