The estate
The Domaine des Monts Luisants operates 3.39 hectares in Burgundy at Morey-Saint-Denis. The estate farms adjacent parcels on limestone slopes, including the Premier Crus Monts Luisants, Genavrières, and En Pierre Viront, as well as a plot in Clos de la Roche. The Monts Luisants terroir stands out for its location at 350 meters in elevation on a steep incline, giving rise to the only Burgundy Premier Cru vinified entirely from Aligoté.
The vineyard
The Monts Luisants vineyard enjoys a privileged position on one of the highest hills overlooking the Grand Cru sites of the Morey-Saint-Denis appellation. The name "Monts Luisants" evokes “shining slopes,” inspired by the autumn glow of the green-gold foliage of Aligoté and Chardonnay that contrasts with the bright red hues of Pinot Noir.
Winemaking and aging
Winemaking for the Morey-Saint-Denis Premier Cru "Les Monts Luisants" 2017 follows a traditional approach. Hand harvesting favors whole-cluster vinification with a cold soak and foot treading. Approximately 12 days of vatting. Aged 10 months in oak barrels.
Grape variety
100% Pinot Noir
