    Description

The elegance and power of a benchmark for quality in the Margaux appellation

    The estate

Classified Growth in the Official Classification of 1855Chateau Palmer is a real star of the Margaux appellation, on the left bank of the Bordeaux region. With biodynamic viticulture launched in 2009, Chateau Palmer has chosen to convert the entire vineyard in 2014. Having built its legacy on vintages that have become legendary, Chateau Palmer continues to write its history under the direction of the talented Thomas Duroux.

    The vineyard

Upon an exceptional terroir in the immediate vicinity of the Gironde estuary, Chateau Palmer has fairly unusual grape varieties for a Medoc estate, with Merlot given pride of place (47%), supplemented by an equal portion (47%) Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Petit Verdot.

    The vintage

The favorable conditions at the beginning of the season led to budburst at the end of February, almost two weeks early. The very rainy month of March preceded a wet but warm spring, causing significant mildew pressure. The dry and warm conditions of mid-May favored an ideal flowering, promising a good harvest. Summer conditions set in during the month of June, with a veraison that began at the end of July. The scorching hot temperatures of August led to significant water stress, and were counterbalanced by stormy days that were beneficial for the vineyard. While the Merlot developed quickly, Cabernet ripened later and retained a small grape size. The return to dry weather at the end of August allowed for the concentration of tannins and optimal ripening.

    Vinification and aging

Aging in barrels for more than 20 months.

    The blend

The Chateau Palmer 2020 was made from a blend of Merlot (48%), Cabernet Sauvignon (48%), Petit Verdot (4%).

    The tasting

    Color

    The color is purple violet.

    Nose

While the first nose gives a glimpse of the complexity of this wine, swirling it reveals a nose marked by delicate black fruit fragrances.

    Palate

The palate seduces with its powerful tannins combining radiance with a generous texture. The structure of this Château Palmer 2020 is similar to that of the 2018 vintage. This benchmark from the Margaux appellation seduces with its sunny Merlot and Cabernet, combining power and elegance.
