Chateau Ferriere : Key Points

3rd Grand Cru Classé, Château Ferrière is located in the heart of the Margaux appellation. Although the estate traces its origins back to the 18th century, its purchase in 1988 by the Villars family marked the beginning of its renaissance. Claire Villars-Lurton is the second successive generation of women at the head of this property on Bordeaux’s Left Bank.

The vineyard covers an area of 24 hectares, 95% of which is located on the plateau in the heart of the appellation. This exceptional terroir is composed of deep gravel on limestone marl. The only Grand Cru Classé certified in Organic Agriculture (AB) in 2015 and in Biodynamics in 2018 (Demeter and Biodyvin), Château Ferrière carries out a meticulous massal selection from a third of the vineyard dating from the 1950s in order to preserve the biodiversity of certain grape varieties. The vineyard is composed of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc.
