A rich white from Sauternes
Chateau Lafaurie-Peyraguey is a First Classified Growth from the Sauternes appellation. This white is produced on a 32 hectare vineyard. The wine is aged for 6 months in French oak barrels (30% are new). The 2016 blend consists of 93% Semillon, 6% Sauvignon Blanc and 1% Muscadelle.
The 2016 vintage began with heavy rains in the spring before an incredibly warm and dry summer. The rainfall from September 13th and 250th allowed optimal maturation of the berries and the ideal development of botrytis. The grape harvest started later than usual, on September 29. The great wine is produced from only 48% of 2016's production.
Chateau Lafaurie-Peyraguey 2016 offers an amazingly refreshing nose, with pure aromas. The wine is distinguished by its formidable balance and richness, paired with its aromatic persistence.
