The estate

A Premier Cru Classé of Sauternes since 1855, Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey, a flagship property of Vignobles Silvio Denz, is among the most prestigious names of this iconic sweet wine appellation located south of the Bordeaux region.

The vineyard

Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey oversees a 36-hectare vineyard dedicated exclusively to the production of its Premier Cru Classé de Sauternes. While this exceptional terroir averages 40 years of age, some plots were planted as far back as 1926.

The wine

Since 2016, Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey has offered a limited edition in which the engraving "Femme et Raisins," created in 1928 by René Lalique, is adorned with gold at the Lalique manufacture in Alsace.

The empty bottles are gilded at the Lalique manufacture, then sent to the château to be filled.

2020 marks the fifth edition of this iconic Sauternes wine, each bottle presented in a unique, numbered case.

Winemaking and aging

Hand-harvested through three successive sorting passes to ensure optimal aromatic precision. Fifteen days of vinification in French oak barrels (30% new). Aging for 10 months in French oak barrels (1/3 new) is followed by an additional 8 months of aging in stainless steel tanks.

Sémillon (88%)
Sauvignon Blanc (12%).

Tasting

Nose
Concentrated, the nose combines luscious, refreshing citrus notes (kumquat, lemon, grapefruit) with a creamy touch reminiscent of lightly toasted vanilla pastry cream.

Palate
A generous attack precedes a palate of rare aromatic richness. Persistent, the finish reveals lovely bitter notes evoking the freshness of citrus zest.
