Since its acquisition by the Swiss businessman Silvio Denz, the Sauternes First Classified Growth Chateau Lafaurie-Peyraguey in the south of the Bordeaux region has been restored to its former glory.
A challenging year full of contrasts, 2017 has nevertheless proven to have offered the perfect conditions to produce unforgettable Sauternes. This was clearly an exceptional year for Sauternes sweet wines. Under the excellent health conditions at the end of August and late-seasons conditions in September, the noble rot was able to develop perfectly on the perfectly ripened grapes. This produced the perfect quality botrytized Semillon (95% of the blend) and Sauvignon Blanc (5% of the blend) with highly concentrated aromas and sugars.
With an aromatic richesse, indulgent palate, perfect balance of sugar and acidity and freshness on the finish, the Chateau Lafaurie Peyraguey 2017 presents all of the qualities that mark a world-class Sauternes. Because the notions of art and terroir are deeply linked to the history of Chateau Lafaurie-Peyraguey, this nectar is presented in an exceptional bottle, adorned with the engraving "Femme et Raisins", following the model of René Lalique, created in 1928.
