Description

An aromatic and structured Sauternes wine

The estate

Chateau Lafaurie-Peyraguey, an 1855 Sauternes Premier Cru Classe, is one of the most prestigious names in the iconic sweet wine appellation located in the south of the Bordeaux region.

The vineyard

Chateau Lafaurie-Peyraguey boasts an exceptional terroir with a 41-hectare vineyard, exclusively dedicated to the production of its Sauternes Premier Cru Classe.

Vinification and aging

3 vertical-style pressings. Settling for 12 hours in temperature-controlled vats. Fermentation with wild yeasts in barrels (30% new) for 30 to 35 days. Aged for 18 to 20 months in barrels. Racking every month for the first year and every 3 months during the second year.

The blend

Chateau Lafaurie-Peyraguey 2005 comprises a blend of Semillon (90%), Sauvignon Blanc (8%) and Muscadelle (2%).

The tasting

Nose

Concentrated, the nose combines notes of apricot, fig jam, hints of almonds and roasted nuts.

Palate

Structured, the palate is medium-bodied with a lively acidity. The palate reveals a nice tension and an intense minerality.

Storage

Chateau Lafaurie Peyraguey 2005 can be kept in the cellar until around 2055, enabling it to develop its full range of aromas.
