Description
The generosity and charm of a Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classe
The estate
Located on the edge of Pomerol and on the western part of the Saint-Emilion appellation, Chateau La Dominique is one of the most prestigious properties on the right bank of the Bordeaux region. Audacity, precision and generosity are the key words to describe Chateau La Dominique and its magnificent wines.
The vineyard
Chateau La Dominique has always been involved in sustainable agriculture, reigning over a 29-hectare vineyard planted on an exceptional terroir, with a combination of brown clay soils and sandy soils on a clay sub-layer. The vines are 35 years old on average.
Grape varieties planted
Merlot (81%), cabernet franc (16%), cabernet sauvignon (3%).
The winemaking
Manual harvest in crates. Vinification in thermo-regulated frustoconical vats.
The aging
16 months of aging. 60% in new French oak barrels, 40% barrels of one previous wine.
The tasting
Tasted as a wine future, the Chateau La Dominique 2019 is quite the charmer. This fine wine displays a bright and deep red color. On the nose, aromas of ripe fruit emerge and mingle with notes of spices and truffles, supported by touches of undergrowth and pepper. The attack is straight-forward and is followed by a round and fleshy palate with precise tannins. The long and full finish combines the generosity of Saint-Emilion with the sap of Pomerol.
