An intense Saint-Emilion wine by Bellefont-Belcier

The estate
Chateau Bellefont-Belcier was bought in 1889 by the Faure family who, through their innovation and hard work, made this estate into one of the jewels of the Bordeaux region. In 1994, it became the property of BJL & Partenaires, opening a new chapter in the life of this Grand Cru Classe, whose facilities were modernized. Chateau Bellefont-Belcier has passed through several hands in recent years before joining the Vignobles K of Hong Kong's Peter Kwok in 2017.

The vineyard
Around twenty hectares in total, the vineyard of Chateau Bellefont-Belcier, Grand Cru Classe of Saint-Emilion in the Bordeaux region, extends over a clay-limestone hillside and molasse de Fronsadais soils.

The winemaking
Harvest from September 27 to October 14. Fermentation without the addition of sulfur. Full vinification in 225 liter barrels (25%) and concrete tanks.

The aging
Aging in new barrels (40%), barrels of one previous wine (30%) and barrels of two previous wines (30%).

The blend
Merlot (70%), cabernet franc (25%) et cabernet sauvignon (5%).

The tasting
The Chateau Bellefont-Belcier 2019 displays a beautiful dense garnet red color. What freshness and complexity in its intense bouquet! Aromas of black berries mingle with licorice. On the palate, this wine reveals its terroir of origin, through a refreshing tension typical of wines from limestone soils. The Bellefont-Belcier 2019 is a lively and full-bodied wine with compact and powerful tannins. The finish reveals plenty of fruit and is distinguished by its length.
