Description
Characteristics and Tasting Notes of Rare Millésime 2013 by Rare Champagne
Tasting
Appearance
Bright, the color displays a beautiful golden hue, revealing a delicate effervescence.
Nose
The nose first expresses delicate floral notes, mingled with hints of black tea and citrus. Next, aromas of white fruits, such as greengage, appear, complemented by nuances of honey, sweet spices, vanilla, and marzipan, offering a pleasant richness.
Palate
Rare Millésime 2013 delivers a seductive duality on the palate: both soft and lively. The attack evokes meringue, whipped cream, and marzipan, followed by the freshness of kumquat, blood orange, and kiwi. On the finish, its texture reveals perfumed and smoky notes, with vibrancy and subtle bitterness. Its fleshy amplitude showcases a unique signature, blending minerality and tropical accents.
Food and Wine Pairings
This champagne pairs perfectly with a seafood platter, John Dory ceviche, or a mint lentil daal.
Cellaring Potential
This vintage can be stored in cellars well beyond 2040, gradually revealing its full complexity over time.
A Radiant and Mineral Vintage Champagne
The Estate
Rare Champagne is a bold house, producing champagnes in limited quantities only during years marked by extraordinary climatic conditions. For over 40 years, it has declared only 14 vintages, each one a unique expression of nature and the cellar master's expertise. The latter selects terroirs for their expressiveness, breaking conventions with Chardonnays from the Montagne de Reims and Pinot Noirs of unparalleled silkiness.
The Vintage
After a cold winter and spring marked by irregular rainfall, summer in Champagne stands out for its mix of sunshine, drought, and storms. In September, a sudden climate shift occurs: autumnal coolness sets in, accompanied by strong winds, leading to a late start to the harvest, which takes place in October.
Blend
This 2013 vintage is composed of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, in judiciously balanced proportions to offer both freshness, intensity, and elegance.
