Description
A seductive Coteaux Champenois white wine of power and precision
The property
Founded in 1776 in Reims, Louis Roederer is a Champagne House that has remained family-owned and independent. After more than 200 years of existence, the Louis Roederer Champagne House is still in the hands of the same family. Today led by Frédéric Rouzaud, who represents the seventh generation of the lineage, the Louis Roederer House embodies the excellence of Champagne wines around the world thanks to cuvées crafted like a work of art.
The vineyard
With nearly 241 hectares of vineyards, the Louis Roederer House draws its strength from its extraordinary vineyard, composed exclusively of Grands and Premiers Crus in the Marne Valley, the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs. A true mosaic of terroirs, the Louis Roederer House's vineyard is divided into 410 plots that reflect the full diversity of the Champagne soils.
The wine
Produced in AOC Coteaux Champenois, the Hommage à Camille "Volibarts" cuvée from Louis Roederer celebrates the spirit of innovation and freedom of Camille Olry-Roederer, Frédéric Rouzaud's great-grandmother. This audacious woman is one of the most significant figures in the house's history.
Coming from a plot of nearly 55 ares of old chardonnay vines, planted in 1997 in Mesnil-Sur-Oger, in the place called Volibarts, this cuvée reveals a different expression of the Champagne terroir and unveils another facet of the unique winemaking know-how of the family house.
The vintage
The year 2019 is marked by significant climatic instability throughout the vegetative cycle. Despite this, this vintage reveals concentrated, rich wines of beautiful quality.
Vinification and aging
A skin maceration of 1/3 of the grapes is followed by a vertical pressing. Spontaneous fermentation precedes an aging period of 14 months on lees in sandstone tanks (77%) and new barrels (23%).
Blend
Chardonnay (100%).
Characteristics and tasting tips for the Hommage à Camille "Volibarts" 2019 cuvée by Louis Roederer

Nose
Fresh and of great purity, the nose precisely blends fragrances of harvest (wheat, dried fruit, light toast), melon and pear with slightly honeyed floral notes. As the wine breathes, the bouquet exhales delicious spicy aromas.
Palate
Powerful, the palate seduces with its structure and freshness. Fine tannins combine with candied citrus aromas as well as delicate chalky and iodized notes. Persistent, the finish reveals toasted notes providing a rich and lasting aromatic framework.
