Description
The energy and purity of a crystalline Brut Nature champagne
The property
Founded in 1776 in Reims, Louis Roederer is a Champagne House that has managed to remain family-owned and independent. After more than 200 years of existence, the Louis Roederer House is still owned by the same family. Now led by Frédéric Rouzaud, who represents the seventh generation of the family's lineage, Louis Roederer boasts and embodies the excellence of Champagne around the world, through cuvées crafted like works of art.
The vineyard
With nearly 241 hectares of vines, the Louis Roederer House derives its strength from its extraordinary vineyard, made up solely of Grands and Premiers Crus in the Marne Valley, the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs. A veritable mosaic of terroirs, the Maison Louis Roederer vineyard is divided into 410 plots, reflecting the great diversity of the Champagne region's soils.
The wine
Brut Nature by Philippe Starck 2012 is the fruit of a collaboration between the famous designer Philippe Starck and the prestigious Champagne House, Louis Roederer. Made exclusively from the Coteaux de Cumières, this cuvée invites you to discover the expression of a pure, crystalline champagne that boasts a beautifully rich and full-bodied structure.
The vintage
Despite low yields in 2012, the continental climatic conditions during the end of the season enabled the teams to obtain grapes that reached a rare level of maturity. The grapes resulted in rich and powerful wines that reveal the grandeur of their terroir of origin.
Vinification and ageing
The vinification is carried out in oak for 15% of the wine. No malolactic fermentation.
The blend
Louis Roederer's Brut Nature by Philippe Starck 2012 comprises a blend of Pinot Noir (55%), Pinot Meunier (25%) and Chardonnay (20%).
Louis Roederer's Brut Nature Limited Edition by Philippe Starck 2012: Characteristics and tasting tips
The tasting
Colour
The colour is a beautiful golden yellow, shimmering with green reflections, all highlighting a delicate and dense effervescence.
Nose
Very aromatic, the nose exudes notes of ripe fruit reminiscent of vineyard peach and candied lemon. Followed by beautiful toasted notes with hints of dried fruit, while delicious notes of baked apple, caramel and spices follow.
Palate
The frank attack highlights a juicy fruity expression and a deliciously tactile mouthfeel. The velvety feel on the palate then reveals a beautiful freshness with iodine notes and a pleasant bitterness. The contrast between the ripeness of the fruit and the intense energy of this wine's purity lends a perfect balance to this no-dosage champagne, without any trace of oxidative notes. A superb zero-dosage champagne in a great vintage.
