When we speak of Medoc, we naturally mean the entire peninsula, but the term is also used to refer to Medoc AOC classification. The variety of soils in the Medoc is important: Garonne gravel, clay, limestone and marine sediment. Medoc wines are usually full-bodied, round, and have a beautiful ruby red color. Their balanced structure, elegance and the subtlety of their enchanting bouquet give the wines their legendary finesse. Representing more than a third of the Medoc region, Merlot dominates in the blends, and is completed with Cabernet Sauvignon and to a lesser extent Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot or Malbec.
