One of the most important representatives of the "pure Medoc style", Chateau Potensac has achieved great success with its 2018 vintage, on the left bank of Bordeaux.
After a rainy and stormy start to the season, the beautiful weather conditions of summer and autumn (hot days and cool nights) favored an ideal ripening of the fruit.
Blending Merlot (45%), with Cabernet Sauvignon (36%), Cabernet Franc (18%) and Petit Verdot (1%), the Chateau Potensac 2018 shows off the character of a very expressive vintage and is marked by beautifully ripe fruit. At the tasting, the Chateau Potensac 2018 presents an inky dark color. Harmonious and rich, the aromatic bouquet opens with notes of ripe black fruit. On the palate, this powerful wine seduces with its generous and juicy texture, exuding flavors of red fruits and lots of freshness. A perfectly accomplished Medoc, delicious to enjoy now or keep to age for years to come.
The 2018 Potensac is blended of 45% Merlot, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot, all harvested between September 21 and October 13, with yields of 49 hectoliters per hectare. The wine has 14.42% alcohol and is to be aged in barriques, 35% new; the finished blend was put into barrels last December. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, it rolls effortlessly out of the glass with bright, fresh red and black plums, crushed blackcurrants and bay leaves with hints of cracked pepper and damp soil. Full-bodied, rich and laden with red and black fruit layers, it has a plush frame of rounded tannins and fantastic freshness, finishing long.
