Description
A fresh and precise Medoc red wine
The estate
Situated in the north of the Medoc, to the west of the Bordeaux region, Chateau Potensac has belonged to the same family for many generations. This estate has always been handed down from mother to daughter. Today, Jean-Hubert Delon, the grandson of Georgette Liquard, is entrusted with driving forward the influence of this chateau, which is regarded as an iconic reference among fine wines in the northern Medoc region.
The vineyard
Chateau Potensac 2021 is a Medoc wine made from a 40-hectare vineyard located in the heart of the appellation. The vines are 45 years old on average and are located on clay and gravel hillsides upon limestone subsoil which gives the wine its minerality, tension and freshness.
The vintage
The 2021 vintage is marked by shifting climatic conditions that impacted the vineyard’s growing cycle. The estate's teams have increased their efforts in order to preserve the vineyard’s healthy condition and to harvest each grape variety at optimum maturity. The grape harvest, which took place from September 29th to October 14th, revealed powerful and complex Cabernets and fresh and full-bodied Merlots grapes.
The blend
Cabernet Sauvignon (40%)
Merlot (34%)
Cabernet Franc (23%)
Petit Verdot (3%).
