A Volnay Village from Louis Latour, Rooted in the Côte de Beaune
The Estate
Founded in 1797 in Beaune, Burgundy, Louis Latour has remained a family-owned and independent estate for more than two centuries. The house cultivates 48 hectares of vineyards across the region, including a significant share of grand cru terroirs, making it one of the largest grand cru holders in Burgundy. Today, Florent Latour leads the estate, carrying forward eleven generations of family stewardship, traditional winemaking methods, and a deep attachment to the region's historic terroirs.
The Vineyard
The grapes for this wine come from the Volnay appellation, a small village perched on a knoll above the Burgundy plain, just a short distance from Pommard. Overlooking the valley from the square in front of its fourteenth-century church, the village offers sweeping views of the plain and, on especially clear days, the distant peaks of Mont Blanc. This privileged position within the Côte de Beaune provides an ideal setting for pinot noir to express itself with finesse.
Winemaking and aging
This Volnay Village 2022 is vinified using traditional methods in open vats, allowing for a gentle extraction of color and aromas. The wine is then aged in barrels crafted by the estate's own cooperage, a savoir-faire that has been part of the Latour family's identity for centuries.
Grape Varieties
100 % pinot noir.
