The elegance and depth of a Vosne-Romanée Grand Cru Monopole
The estate
Founded in 1835 by Jean-Constant Lamarche, Domaine Nicole Lamarche is an emblematic estate in Vosne-Romanée, in the heart of Burgundy. Now run by Nicole Lamarche, who represents the sixth generation, this family estate stands out for its approach that respects living ecosystems, inspired by biodynamics. With around eleven hectares of vines concentrated on prestigious terroirs, it is renowned worldwide for the finesse and purity of its wines. The estate's uniqueness lies above all in its exclusive ownership of a viticultural gem: a monopole ranked at the very top of the regional hierarchy.
The vineyard
La Grande Rue is an exceptional 1.65-hectare plot that has been farmed as a monopole since 1933. Ideally located between the legendary climats of La Tâche and Romanée-Conti, this narrow ribbon of vines lies on brown clay-limestone soils strewn with surface scree. Farmed according to organic principles, though without certification, this Burgundy terroir benefits from very low yields and the meticulous care given to its old vines, allowing it to express the full quintessence and minerality of this grand cru.
Vinification and ageing
Hand harvesting ensures a healthy, optimal crop. The berries are then fully destemmed. Fermentation begins naturally with indigenous yeasts, followed by a gentle maceration of around twenty days to preserve the elegance of the aromas. Finally, the wine undergoes a precise, extended ageing of sixteen to twenty months in oak barrels, with the proportion of new oak deliberately kept below 50% so as not to mask the identity of the terroir.
Grape variety
Pinot Noir (100%).
