Description
The refinement and balance of a superb Saint-Emilion Grand Cru
Magali and Thibaut Decoster have beautifully orchestrated the Grand Cru Classe Clos des Jacobins, a classified growth that is amoung the most beautiful and prestigious in the Saint-Emilion appellation on the Right Bank in the Bordeaux region.
The last vintages of the estate have revealed wines distinguished by their charm and elegance, their velvety character and finesse, in a resolutely modern style perfectly capturing the essence of the fruit.
The emblematic Right Bank black grape variety dominates the Clos des Jacobins 2017 with the suppleness of Merlot (98%) and complemented with the spice and structure of Cabernet Franc (2%).
With a superb aromatic bouquet and nuanced expressions, Clos des Jacobins 2017 opens with intense notes of ripe fruit, raspberry and licorice that are delicately outlined with dried floral scents. With precision and refinement, the palette is superbly dense and elegant, and reveals well-structured tight-grained tannins. This mouthfeel continues to the mid-palette and further displays crispy fruit that stretches all the way to a tasty, persistent finish. The Clos des Jacobins 2017 is a lovely vintage that promises to flourish over the years with cellaring.
