Description

The strength and finesse of a Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion

The estate

On the right bank of the Bordeaux region, with its 30 contiguous hectares beautifully situated on the limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion, Château Soutard is a fine reference of the appellation. The wines from this historic estate are appreciated by enthusiasts for their power, depth, and finesse while preserving the elegance of the fruit.

The vineyard

Château Soutard oversees a 30-hectare contiguous vineyard, of which 21.14 hectares are in production. With an average age of 20 years, the vines are planted primarily on the clay-limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion as well as on clay slopes and sandy footslopes.

Blend

Merlot (90%) and Cabernet Franc (10%).

Characteristics and tasting advice for Château Soutard 2017

Tasting

Nose
A superb aromatic bouquet, in which the freshness of red berries is expressed with intensity.

Palate
On the palate, the wine reveals itself with elegance and finesse, on a texture that highlights the suppleness of the tannins, their powdery, finely defined grains, while tension brings balance and depth in a long finish. A lovely vintage for this Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion.
