Description

The smoothness and finesse of a Margaux red wine

The estate

Château Prieuré-Lichine, Fourth Grand Cru Classé in 1855, presents all the characteristics of the superb Margaux appellation, located on Bordeaux’s Left Bank.
Château du Prieuré de Cantenac became Château Prieuré-Lichine when the charismatic Alexis Lichine, the "Pope of Wine," bought it in 1951. After his death in 1989, his son Sacha took over the reins of the estate until 1999, when the property became part of the Ballande group.
The philosophy of Château Prieuré-Lichine is focused on excellence in the production of great wines that reveal the full expression and diversity of the great terroirs of the Margaux appellation.

The vineyard

Château Prieuré-Lichine 2015 is a Margaux wine that stems from a 77.5-hectare vineyard. Planted on Garonne gravel, typical of the Margaux appellation, the vines, on average 30 years old, benefit from an exceptional terroir.

Winemaking and ageing

Harvesting in crates. Vibrating sorting table. Vatting period of 28 to 30 days. The wine is aged in barrels, 50% of which are new and 50% are one-wine barrels.

Blend

Château Prieuré-Lichine 2015 is made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (66%), Merlot (29%) and Petit Verdot (5%).
