The estate
An iconic property of the Margaux appellation on the left bank of the Bordeaux region, Chateau Prieure-Lichine boasts a prestigious heritage.
The vineyard
Chateau Prieure-Lichine reigns over 78 hectares of vines on an extraordinary terroir. Planted in Garonne gravel typical of the Margaux appellation, the 30-year-old vines enjoy ideal growing conditions.
The vintage
After a mild, dry winter followed by a cool, wet spring, the summer of 2019 was very dry and hot. In autumn, the rainy days of mid-September helped the vines avoid too much water stress and promoted a longer ripening period.
The winemaking
Harvest in crates from September 13 to October 15. Vibrating sorting table. Manual sorting and optical sorting. No crushing. Gravity-led vatting. Fermentation from 28 to 30 days.
The aging
40% new French oak barrels, 60% barrels of one previous wine.
The blend
Cabernet sauvignon (62%), merlot (35%), petit verdot (3%)
