Both driven by the vision of vines as a living entity, Helene Garcin and Patrick Leveque also share a life project: caring for exceptional terroirs attentively and meticulously, but above all passionately. Evidently, it was with this in mind that they set foot on the grounds of Chateau Poesia. Henceforth, they set out to highlight the great, nature-conscious wines of Saint-Emilion from these vines.
The 2020 Chateau Poesia comes from a great terroir, perched on the heights of Saint-Emilion. There, the clay and limestone plateau on which the vines take root benefits from an ideal exposure to the wind, giving the merlot a superb aromatic complexity. The grape varieties in the vineyard are divided between 70% of Merlot and 30% of Cabernet Franc. The climate is oceanic, ensuring a good supply of water to the vines.
The winemaking and aging
After the manual harvests, the berries enter the cellar to begin the precision winemaking process. The grapes ferment in stainless steel and concrete tanks. The wine then ages in French oak barrels for 18 to 24 months.
The 2020 Poesia is a fruity wine, affected in particular by the aromatic expression of black fruits such as plums and black cherries. The lively and silky structure meets with aromas with great freshness, giving the cuvee a beautiful length and an elegant style.
