Description
A dense and fruit-forward fine red wine from Saint-Emilion
The estate
Owned by Silvio Denz, Chateau Peby Faugeres is a Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Emilion located on the right bank of Bordeaux. Thanks to the efforts and investments made by Silvio Denz, Chateau Peby Faugeres has gradually risen to become one of the most beautiful references of the appellation.
The vineyard
The Chateau Peby Faugeres vineyard covers 7.45 hectares of vines in the Saint-Emilion appellation. The vines are planted on a clay-limestone hillside (a vineyard all in one piece) and enjoy a south / southeast orientation. In a constant quest for perfection and with a profound respect for the environment, the vineyard is cultivated with organic viticulture.
The vintage
The 2019 vintage is one that will mark the history of Chateau Peby Faugeres. The remarkable terroir of the property has performed beautifully during this year. The clay-limestone soils of Peby Faugeres have enabled the vines to fight against the water stress caused by the scorching summer, allowing the Merlot to reach perfect maturity.
The winemaking
Manual harvest from September 21 to October 8. Fermentation from 25 to 30 days.
The aging
Aging for 18 months in new French oak barrels.
The blend
Merlot (100%).
The tasting
Tasted as a wine future, the Chateau Peby Faugeres 2019 immediately seduces the palate with its sweet and charming attack, which highlights the expression of the fruit. Structured by silky tannins, the wine packs the palate with its density of matter. With great elegance and freshness, the vintage lingers on the finish for quite a long time.
