Description

A brilliant Saint-Emilion Classified Growth by Chateau Laroque

The estate
Situated on a limestone plateau, Chateau Laroque shines bright in the prestigious Saint-Emilion appellation. This Saint-Emilion Classified Growth has been a stronghold in the region for more than 9 centuries and still today has the largest vineyard in the appellation.

The vineyard
Situated in the Saint-Emilion appellation, the Chateau Laroque vineyard is planted in the famous clay and limestone plateau of the appellation. The terraces and hillsides of the 61-hectare vineyard enjoy an east to west exposure and very fine, bluish, limestone clay soils. The old vines are subject to massal selection.

The winemaking and aging
Manual harvest. Merlot between September 30 and October 10. Cabernet franc, October 10. Gravity vat, whole fruit. Plot-by-plot vinification in small concrete tanks. Gentle mixed extraction with punch-downs and pour-overs. Protective maceration. Reductive aging on fine lees in barrels and oak casks. First racking after 4 to 6 months of aging, the second, 12 months later for bottling.

The blend
Merlot, cabernet franc

The tasting
The Chateau Laroque 2019 is a bright wine with floral and spicy aromas, revealing a refreshing salinity and great nobility.
