Description

A Premier Grand Cru Classé from Saint-Émilion characterized by finesse and elegance

The property

Established in 1893 by Henry Henriques-Raba, the Château Larcis Ducasse is a jewel nestled on the limestone terraces of Saint-Émilion. Currently led by David Suire, under the ownership of Ariane Gratiot and Amel Attmane, this Premier Grand Cru Classé distinguishes itself through its sustainable practices and its historic gravity-fed cellar.

The vineyard

Situated a short distance from the village of Saint-Émilion, the Larcis Ducasse vineyard spans over 11.34 hectares, of which 10.50 are in production. This exceptional terroir, with vines averaging 38 years old, is characterized by clay-limestone soils interspersed with resurgent springs.

The vintage

The 2024 vintage harvest occurred from September 24 to October 3, under conditions that allowed for optimal grape maturity. Controlled yields at 41 hl/ha have favored the concentration and quality of the berries, with 70% of the production dedicated to the grand wine.

Vinification and aging

Maceration of 25 to 28 days, allowing for optimal extraction of aromas and tannins. The aging, lasting 16 to 18 months, is carried out in barrels (50% new, 50% of one wine), in demi-muids and in foudre.

Blend

The blend of Château Larcis Ducasse 2024 is composed of 85% merlot complemented by 15% cabernet franc.
