The Elegance and Richness of a Great Saint-Émilion Terroir
The Estate
Founded in 1823 by the Esquissaud family and located in Saint-Étienne-de-Lisse, in the renowned Bordeaux region, Château Faugères had several owners before being acquired in 2005 by Silvio Denz. He left his mark on the estate by modernizing the facilities while respecting its heritage. Now recognized as a Grand Cru Classé, the estate combines tradition and innovation, notably through its contemporary cellar and strong environmental commitment, showcasing the excellence of its terroir.
The Vineyard
Spanning 39.54 hectares, the vineyard sits on magnificent clay-limestone terroirs located on the gentle slopes of the Saint-Émilion appellation. The vines reach their peak on a plateau offering ideal conditions for berry ripening.
The Vintage
The year was marked by dry and moderate climatic conditions. These favorable weather elements allowed for optimal photosynthesis throughout the growing cycle, with no resurgence of vine growth before harvest. The harvest took place under the best conditions, beginning on September 3rd for the Merlot and ending on September 19th for the Cabernet Sauvignon.
Vinification and Aging
Fermentation for 25 to 28 days in stainless steel tanks. Aging then continues with 20% of the volume kept in stainless steel tanks, while the remaining 80% ages in barrels. These barrels are divided equally between one-third new oak, one-third once-used barrels, and one-third twice-used barrels. Alcohol content: 13.5% vol.
Grape Varieties
70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon.
