Description
The generosity and power of a fine red wine from Haut-Medoc
The estate
Chateau Citran is one of the oldest properties in the Medoc. In 1996, the Merlaut family took over the reins of the estate. This property produces elegant Haut-Medoc wines that combine tradition and modernity.
The vineyard
35-year-old vines cover nearly 100 hectares of vineyard. These vines are planted in a mosaic of gravel-sandy soils with limestone and clay-limestone soils.
The winemaking
Thermo-regulated vats. Stainless steel, wood and cement tanks. Traditional thermo-regulated vinification. Malolactic fermentation in barrels (33%).
The aging
Traditional aging. Quarterly racking. Fining with egg whites.
The blend
Cabernet sauvignon (43%), merlot (49%), cabernet franc (8%).
The tasting
The Chateau Citran 2019 has a bright and deep color with purple reflections. On an expressive nose notes of red fruit mingle with touches of charming and intense black fruit. On the palate, this wine combines generosity and power on a harmonious structure.
