A Gourmet and Structured red Grand Vin from Haut-Medoc

Powerful, gourmet and structured, the Chateau Citran 2018 offers the experience of a red Grand Vin of Haut-Medoc in what was a beautiful vintage for Bordeaux.

Located on the left bank of Bordeaux, in the Haut-Medoc appellation, Chateau Citran looks over a vineyard of 100 hectares, planted on gravelly-sandy soil upon asteroid limestones and clay-limestone soils.

For this 2018 vintage, the harvest began on September 19 with the Merlot and ended on October 12 with the Cabernet Sauvignon. Guided by the advice of talented oenologist Eric Boissenot, the Chateau Citran 2018 is made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (39%), Merlot (50%) and Cabernet Franc (11%).

At the tasting, the Chateau Citran 2018 presents a limpid color, with brilliant violet reflections. Intense and complex, the nose opens with notes of red and black berries, bearing the unique imprint of each grape variety in the blend. On the palate, the wine unfolds a generous and juicy material, with a beautiful structure. The harmonious palate stretches into a long, persistent finish.

Wine Advocate-Parker :
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Citran is a touch mute to begin, unfurling to offer very pretty notes of warm raspberries, fresh blackcurrants and kirsch over nuances of potpourri, chocolate box and crushed stones. Full-bodied with fantastic freshness lifting the intense red and black fruit layers, it has a firm, grainy frame and a long, perfumed finish. Nice!
