Description

A fine red wine from Saint-Emilion by Canon-La-Gaffeliere

The estate
Chateau Canon-La-Gaffeliere is a prestigious wine estate founded in the 17th century in the Bordeaux region. Located south of the medieval city of Saint-Emilion, Chateau Canon-La-Gaffeliere has been under the direction of Stephen von Neipperg since 1983. A member of a German family involved in viticulture for almost 8 centuries, Stephen von Neipperg manages the Chateau Canon-La-Gaffeliere with great passion and talent, through a resolutely modern approach to viticulture.

The vineyard
Situated at the foot of a hill, the estate has a 19.75-hectare vineyard planted in clay-limestone and clay-sandy soils. Managed on a parcel-by-parcel basis, the atypical vineyard receives all the necessary attention and is certified for organic farming.

The winemaking
Harvest from September 19 to October 7. Vinification in oak vats. Extraction by pneumatic punch-downs. Fermentation for 35 days.

The aging
Aging in new French oak barrels (60%). Aging on fine lees.

The blend

Merlot (49%), cabernet franc (39%), cabernet sauvignon (12%).
