Description
A delicate and complex Premier Grand Cru Classe of Saint-Emilion
The estate
Chateau Canon-La-Gaffeliere is a prestigious wine estate founded in the 17th century in the Bordeaux region. Located south of the medieval city of Saint-Emilion, Chateau Canon-La-Gaffelière has been under the direction of Stephen von Neipperg since 1983. A member of a German family involved in viticulture for almost 8 centuries, Stephen von Neipperg manages the Chateau Canon-La-Gaffelière with great passion and talent, through a resolutely modern approach to viticulture.
The vineyard
Chateau Canon-La-Gaffeliere 2021 is a Saint-Emilion wine made from a 19.75-hectare vineyard which is planted on clay-limestone and sandy-clay soils. Managed in a plot-by-plot manner, the atypical vineyard receives all the necessary attention and is certified for organic farming.
Vinification and aging
Harvesting from September 28th to October 14th. Vinification in wooden vats. Extraction by pneumatic punching down. Vatting for 29 days. Aged on fine lees in barrels (40% new).
The blend
Chateau Canon-La-Gaffeliere 2021 comprises a blend of Cabernet Franc (45%), Merlot (35%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (20%).
